A & B is our employee recognition program and
allows our most frequent flyers (Dividend Miles’
silver, platinum, gold and Chairman’s Preferred
members) to reward our employees for outstanding
customer service in the air or on the ground.
These customers, along with all leaders at the
Manager level or above (NEW
for 2008) in the company are are given
an allotment of A&B coupons per year to use when
they encounter exceptional service - with either
an internal or external customer. They can either
hand the card to the employee, or mail it to the
company (see mailing details).
Cold, Hard Cash
A&B will award mainline and wholly owned express
employees more than $1 million each year. And
we’re not talking about five or 10 bucks at a
time; employees will be eligible for prizes of up
to $10,000!
Here’s how it will
work: All coupons received from customers will be
part of a quarterly drawing and each quarter we
will award:
-
Ten employees with $10,000
-
100 employees with $1,000
-
250 employees with $250
Employees can only
win once per quarter but we will draw in
descending order. That means we will draw the
$10,000 first, then the $1,000, then the $250
prize. That way you will win the highest amount
possible. Employees will have to decide whether to
send all of them in for one drawing (to increase
their chances) or to spread them out and send a
few every quarter.
Again, these
awards will be given randomly, with every A&B
recipient eligible. So it only takes one to win
but the more coupons an employee receives, the
higher that person’s chances are of winning!
Who's Eligible
for the Drawing?
Any mainline or wholly owned express employee.
However, we know that our customers do not always
know who works for whom and coupons received and
identified for an affiliate carrier employee will
be forwarded to their respective HR department.
We also know that
since customer-contact employees, like crewmembers
and customer service agents, have the most
interaction with our top-tier customers, they will
tend to be the primary recipients; however, all
employees are eligible. And for this reason we
have provided a supply of "A&B Checkbooks"
(coupons) to our every department to be used by
leaders to recognize employees who have provided
exceptional service with our internal customers.
Any leader at the
Manager level or above can request additional A&B
Checkbooks by emailing
hrprograms@usairways.com - note we will be
mailing 2008 A&B Checkbooks in late January.
When do I need
to turn in my coupons?
Quarterly drawings are held during the State of
the Airline Meeting, which is scheduled during the
last week of the month following the end of the
quarter. Coupons are automatically included in
these drawings based on the chart below:
-
1st Quarter (Jan - Mar)– Drawing held last week
in April for all coupons postmarked or received
by Mar 31
-
2nd Quarter (Apr – Jun)– Drawing held last week
in July for all coupons postmarked or received
by Jun 30
-
3rd Quarter (Jul – Sep) )– Drawing held last
week in October for all coupons postmarked or
received by Sep 30
-
4th Quarter (Oct – Dec) )– Drawing held last
week in January for all coupons postmarked or
received by Dec 31
Note: New AB coupons
no longer expire, so any coupons you receive do
not need to entered into the next drawing; you can
hold some for another drawing if you choose.
However past dated coupons are not accepted and
coupons are only good for one drawing (they do not
roll over to the next drawing. Only original
coupons are accepted (hand written notes on drink
napkins do not count - no matter how creative
<G>!).
When I win, how
do I get my money!
Depends on the amount - $10,000 winners will
receive a separate check presented to them with in
about a week of the drawing. For $1000 and $250
winners it will appear in your next paycheck.
After each drawing we post the winners here and
list the dates checks will delivered and/or when
winners will appear in employees paychecks.
